Service scope

Self2Chat provides temporary chat rooms without registration and a Self2Archive account for longer-term storage of files, notes, links, media, code, and related metadata.

Data We Collect

We collect only what is needed, and each category has a clear purpose:

• Chat content: Messages and files in temporary rooms are stored while the room is active so we can deliver them between devices, show previews, and remove them when the room expires.
• Archive content: Files, notes, links, media, code, categories, tags, previews, and metadata are kept because you save them to Self2Archive for later search, organization, and reuse.
• Account data: Email, password hash, display name, settings, sessions, device identifiers, and verification status are used for sign-in, account security, and recovery.
• Technical information: IP address, user-agent, device/session identifiers, rate-limit events, and security logs help prevent abuse, protect accounts, and diagnose incidents.
• Payment data: Plan, region, provider subscription IDs, invoice/payment status, amount, and billing events are used to activate subscriptions and answer billing requests. We do not store card details.
• Usage data: Aggregated analytics and service statistics help us understand reliability, performance, and which public pages need improvement. Public pages may load Google Analytics after consent.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data unless you provide it in content.

Data Retention

Retention depends on whether content is in a temporary chat or Self2Archive:

• Temporary chats are deleted after inactivity (30 minutes by default, with optional extensions) or when the room is ended.
• Archive items stay in your account until you delete them, close the account, or reach a lifecycle required by law or abuse handling.
• Email verification links expire after 7 days; unverified accounts may be deleted 7 days after registration.
• Account deletion requires a confirmation link that expires after 30 minutes. Once confirmed, the account and related sessions are removed.

Scanning & safety

Files and some content may pass through automated antivirus, moderation, and abuse checks. Unsafe items may be blocked, blurred, hidden, or removed.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We may share limited data only where needed to operate, secure, bill, or legally protect the service:

• Cloudflare R2 object storage for temporary chat files, archive files, thumbnails, and safety evidence where configured.
• Payment providers such as Robokassa for Russia/CIS subscriptions where available.
• Google Analytics for aggregate public-page analytics where enabled after consent.
• If required by law or legal process

How We Use Your Data

The limited data we collect is used exclusively for:

• Providing and maintaining the Self2Chat service
• Improving and optimizing the service's performance
• Ensuring security and preventing abuse
• Complying with legal obligations, if required

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and localStorage for sessions, CSRF protection, language, theme, limits, analytics consent, and the cookie notice. See the Cookies page.

International Data Transfers

Our services are hosted on servers located in various regions. By using Self2Chat, you consent to your data being processed in these locations, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
